Andrea Smith joined Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP in the role as Marketing Manager in June 2025.
What does your role involve?
As Marketing Manager at Anglia Innovation Partnership LLP, my role is to ensure that the publicly funded research on the campus is maximised in line with the strategic business objectives. I manage, facilitate, and guide a successful programme of work to raise the profile of Norwich Research Park.
What is your favourite thing about your role?
I enjoy the variety in my role; no two days are the same. A typical day could involve supporting team members with event logistics, drafting articles for the website, drafting marketing campaigns, managing a photoshoot, or chairing business development meetings. I love the uniqueness of this role and that I get to collaborate with other communications teams across the campus and within the AIP team.
What is challenging about your role?
While my role is fascinating, not having a science background can sometimes make it difficult to understand technical details. However, my team is very supportive and help me with the terms. Having a solid foundation in strategic marketing, I rely on my CIM training to ensure our marketing proposals are business focused and sound. My colleagues are always on hand to support with the science terminology.
Where have you worked before?
Before joining Anglia Innovation Partnership, I worked for a top 45 accountancy firm in the southeast. My career has primarily focused within the professional services sector, where I worked for several medium and large legal firms in Norfolk. This experience has been beneficial as I transition into my new role, as I am comfortable forming partnerships and driving business development.
An interesting fact about yourself?
I am not sure if it’s an interesting fact, but if we have spoken, you will know that I am a proud Norfolk Girl born and raised and a season ticket holder at Carrow Road. I also have a strong passion for travel and usually have a couple of holidays booked at any time!
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love being outside, so my weekends are typically spent exploring the Norfolk coastline or countryside with my family and our Cavapoo puppy.
