On Wednesday 10 September, 9:30am-5pm, Space East will be holding a conference at the University of East Anglia’s (UEA) Enterprise Centre at Norwich Research Park, that will introduce attendees to the fundamentals of Earth Observation (EO) satellite technology and explore its real-world applications across agriculture, marine science, energy, climate and land management.
‘Unlocking Earth Observation for Sustainability- Learning, Innovation and Action for the East of England’ is a free event designed to:
- Demystify EO technology for new users
- Demonstrate real-world applications in sectors that matter to the region
- Enable informed adoption of EO data and services
- Connect diverse stakeholders for collaboration, innovation and future growth
The event will explore the transformative potential of EO satellite technology. From boosting farm productivity to protecting marine ecosystems, EO is revolutionising how we manage land, energy and climate.
The East of England, with its rich agricultural landscapes, dynamic coastline and growing energy sector, faces climate change, sea-level rise and shifting land use. EO tools offer vital support for smarter, more sustainable decisions across the region.
Space East is the UK’s newest space cluster and brings together leaders from across industry, research and Government in the East of England to develop and champion exciting new opportunities in space technology.
The applications of space and satellite technologies stretch across the region’s leading industries including food and agriculture, offshore wind, coastal and marine science, health and social care, and transport and logistics. Space East’s partners include Adastral Park, Norwich Research Park, Hethel Innovation, OrbisEnergy, CEFAS, UEA and the University of Suffolk.
Funded by Satellite Applications Catapult’s UK-EONS programme and facilitated by Space East, the conference will showcase real-world EO applications and help individuals, businesses and public sector bodies access tools that drive sustainability, productivity and resilience.
The conference will be useful for you to attend if you are a business leader, land manager, researcher, student, policymaker or tech innovator, wherever you are in your EO journey
