We are holding our tenth Enterprise Tuesday event on Tuesday 10 March at the John Innes Conference Centre which will focus on Emerging technologies in the East of England and will showcase how emerging technologies can help to spearhead new innovations and platforms for research and business through a mix of presentations and panel discussions.
With its unique breadth and depth of scientific activity on one campus in agri-food, health nutrition and the environment the campus has the opportunity to explore its role in a number of important global markets.
The keynote speaker and panel member is Dr Ian Jepson, principal consultant at Jepson Advisors LLC. Ian is based at the Research Triangle Park in North Carolina, USA, where previously he was Site Business Head of the 350,000 sq. ft Syngenta RTP Innovation Center, the flagship site Syngenta Seeds R&D. Syngenta is one of the world’s leading agriculture companies with over $30bn sales and seeds and crop protection products. Ian has spent over 35 years at Syngenta and legacy companies based in the UK and the USA. He has held multiple leaderships position in Syngenta, most recently global Head of Technology and he will provide insights on Agri R&D from global, US and corporate perspectives.
Ian will give examples of what it is like innovating in a corporate like Syngenta across different countries and what corporates look for when forming partnerships with early-stage companies. He’ll also explain the key issues in the global agri-biotech market today and what opportunities exist.
Ian is one of a number of VIPs to visit Norwich Research Park’s campus this year, making the link between the work of scientists and entrepreneurs, in Norwich, and the global agri-food market. Other significant hubs of activity are in Europe, China, South America and the US.
As well as participating in our Enterprise Tuesday event, Ian will be having one-to-one meetings with Norwich Research Park’s latest spinout companies offering them a multinational perspective.
Roz Bird, CEO of Anglian Innovation Partnership, said “Thanks to the specialist skills and technology platforms present across our campus, we have the opportunity to think and act globally. This approach, combined with our role in the global agri-food market, will ensure we maximise the economic impact of the publicly-funded research here at Norwich Research Park and in so doing create more jobs for the region.”
